"Written laws, which in all respects resemble spiders' webs, can catch only the poor and weak, while the rich and powerful easily break through them."

--Anacharsis, ~600 B.C.
From "Lives of the Great Romans and Greeks," by Plutarch

The police officer is the defender of the law, and it is this legal code that makes up all of their duties. Rape cases aren't fully investigated, because prostitution is also a crime and must be chased. Terrorists crossing over into our country aren't well-covered -- the police are spending more time, energy, and manpower tracking down illegal workers than terrorists. It can take several hours for police to respond to a burglary or assault call -- but they are always available and ready to arrest and imprison drug dealers.

District attorneys spend more on prostitution cases than on rape cases; they'll prosecute and deport illegal immigrants more than they prosecute and imprison murderers; and they'll spend billions on fighting drugs when they don't have enough to protect peoples' homes from invasion. From the lowliest police officer, to the highest judge -- the entire judicial system is more concerned with moral crime than actual crime. They are more concerned with prostitutes than with rapists, with immigrants than with terrorists, with drug users than with burglars.

But there are prostitutes who are available for thousands of dollars in Las Vegas. There are doctors who can be bought to give you any drug in the world. And any immigrant, with enough money, can legally enter any nation of their choosing. The police are not upholding the law, then. They are upholding the law when it persecutes the poor, the unemployed, and the homeless. But they wear blindfolds when the rich break the very same laws.

Billions have been spent on prosecuting those who stole only $2 worth of merchandise from a store -- the arrest of children who stole because they didn't have enough to eat, the imprisonment of families that cross borders to feed themselves.

From the dawn of America, it has always been illegal to steal what could fit into your hand. It wasn't until the Sherman Anti-Trust Act in 1890 that prohibited theft of the rich over the poor. Even then, it was almost a century before the law ever imprisoned a single Capitalist; and the law prohibited prison sentences for Capitalists that exceeded one year. In the 1990's, the music industry fixed prices on the market and caused $60 billion in damages. There was no imprisonment for this, but they'll throw you in a jail cell for stealing a $2 loaf of bread.

The police are here for the rich. They have always been here for the rich. These are not temporary, social issues, only affecting our police officers. Whether you look at the police of Fascist or Representative governments, from Ancient Rome or any nation today -- you will find the same behavior by the 'public guardians.'

No matter what country or what era, the police have always been the hunters of the common people.
